Stephanie Seungmin Kim
Stephanie Seungmin Kim, PhD, is an internationally recognized art curator, gallerist, writer, and speaker. She is the founder of Stephanie Kim Gallery, Iskai Contemporary Art (a curatorial research center), Sleepers Summit Korea (a leading developer of art and cultural events), and Legions of Insomniacs New York (a strategic and creative curation company working with brands, organizations, and municipalities). Legions has been widely recognized for its SoHo Salon Series, a monthly arts and culture gathering in Lower Manhattan.
From 2007 to 2011, Stephanie served as the Founding Curator of the Korean Cultural Centre UK, Embassy of the Republic of Korea. During this tenure, she curated award-winning exhibitions such as Present from the Past, Supervision, Earth Alert: Photographic Response to Climate Change, Future’s Future Future, and Crossfields. Stephanie holds a PhD from the Royal College of Art (RCA), a Master’s degree from University College London (UCL), and an Honors BA from Sotheby’s Institute.
With a career spanning over 80 international exhibitions featuring more than 600 artists in 20+ cities, Stephanie has led major projects, including:
Liverpool Biennial City States exhibitions Media Zone East (2010) and Terra Galaxia (2012)
A Soldier’s Tale (London Asia House, 2013) commemorating 130 years of UK-Korea diplomatic relations
Crystallize (London Old Billingsgate, 2013), the official exhibition for the largest KBEE event in Europe
Sleepers in Venice (2015), a parallel exhibition for the Venice Biennale featuring Mark Wallinger, Jia Chang, and others
Singapore Open Media Festival (2015) featuring Laure Prouvost and others
1st Jikji Korea International Festival (Jikji, the Golden Seed, 2016) with artists like William Kentridge, Ron Arad, and Marshmallow Laser Feast

A sought-after speaker and expert commentator, Stephanie writes the monthly column Kimseungmin Curator’s Art Money Market for Hankook Ilbo (Korea Times)—a must-read for collectors and corporate clients. Her insights have appeared in major media outlets including BBC, KBS, The Guardian, and EnVi Media. In 2018, Stephanie produced the Sleepers in Venice documentary, acclaimed for its integration of art and music through a collaboration with Fluxus Music. The film’s OST album was released under the same title. Her second documentary, Fragments, won Best Feature Documentary at the Moscow International Film Festival and was a finalist at the Cannes World Film Festival and New York International Film Awards.
